Installation of post and wire to keep pigeons or seagulls of ridges and ledges

Post and wire is a discreet alternative to fixing bird spikes onto your property.

Most people are aware of bird spikes as a way to control bird behaviour but one we recommend is a post and wire system.

Where pressure from pigeons or seagulls is minimal this may be the best option if you are looking for a less visible option.

What is post and wire?

It is a bird deterrent system consisting of vertical posts and horizontal wires installed above an area to prevent birds from landing or roosting.

The wires are installed at varying heights and tensions using steel springs to create an unstable surface that makes it difficult for birds to perch.

This type of bird deterrent is commonly used on rooftops, ledges, sills, ridges, curved masonry and other structures where birds may gather or nest.

Where we can install post and wire

This type of humane bird deterrent can be installed in a variety of locations including windows sills, wall ledges, flat roofs, and rain gutters.

There are different types of connections and wire diameters we install depending on the bird causing the problem.

They can be drilled, screwed or installed with industry-strength mastic.

Frequently Asked Questions about post and wire bird proofing

Many customers request spikes to be installed as a deterrent. In some instances, these can look ugly so this method of control is the perfect choice for those concerned about appearance.

What do you install?

Post and wire consist of three main elements:
Stainless steel posts (Different lengths for pigeons or gulls)
Coated stainless steel stranded wire
Tension springs.

The posts are either placed in holders or drilled into place with a waterproof gromit.

Will the deterrent harm birds?

Not at all. The system is designed to make it awkward for pigeons or seagulls to land.

Should they attempt to land they will soon discover it is an unstable landing spot and should fly away.

They cannot get trapped in post and wire.

How long will the protection last?

Being made of graded stainless steel the system should last for many years.

Will I need scaffolding for access?

It is possible yes. We will survey your premises to determine if it is required. Most of the time we do not need scaffold.
